Job Overview
Join our founding team at a private equine conditioning and wellness facility. We are a start up business located in Lakeview Terrace. This unique role offers the opportunity to work in a professional, high-standard environment that retains a welcoming, "at home" atmosphere. We are seeking a self starter who blends technical veterinary expertise with a passion for hands on horse care. As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in delivering advanced therapy services, maintaining impeccable stable hygiene, and supporting the smooth operation of our business all without the stress of micromanagement.
Responsibilities:
Execute Wellness Protocols: Serve as the primary technician for therapeutic services, including operating Aquatread and Red Light therapy units, while maintaining precise treatment logs and ensuring equipment calibration.
Perform Daily Stable Management: Conduct essential husbandry tasks including mucking stalls to a high standard, scrubbing water buckets, preparing feed rations, and managing turnout schedules.
Handle Horses with Confidence: Expertly handle a variety of breeds from large Warmbloods to Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses ensuring safety during loading onto treadmills and during therapy sessions.
Create Digital Content: Capture high quality video content of horses during treatments for social media (Stories/Reels) and assist with basic website updates and online booking management.
Maintain Facility Standards: Act as a resourceful problem solver by addressing minor facility needs (e.g., tightening a latch, fixing a cross tie) to ensure a safe environment.
Uphold Hygiene Standards: Maintain a clinical standard of cleanliness throughout the barn and treatment areas to support the overall wellness of the horses.
Collaborate Effectively: Work autonomously as a self starter who takes ownership of the program, fostering a "no drama" culture focused strictly on animal welfare.
Qualifications:
Education: Must hold an Associate’s Degree (or higher) in Veterinary Technology, Equine Science, or Animal Science.
Equine Experience: Extensive hands on experience owning horses or working in professional equine settings is required. Must be comfortable handling large, fit sport horses.
Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and scheduling software; ability to capture clear video content for media use.
Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift 50lbs, operate a wheelbarrow, and work actively on your feet for the duration of the shift.
Work Ethic: A dedicated professional who prefers a hands on environment and does not require micromanagement to identify and complete tasks.
Resourcefulness: Basic "handy" skills (use of screwdriver/drill) for minor barn maintenance are highly valued.
Internship Opportunities:
We are also accepting applications for Veterinary Technology or Equine Science students seeking mentorship. Gain hands on experience with sports medicine modalities (Aquatread, Red Light, Cryotherapy and others)
